Where Our Faith Intersects with Our Story

The purpose of Our Story (Capital S) is to expand upon what it is we have when we say we have faith in Christ Jesus. It is not something vague, it is not a ‘one off’, it is not something like a spiritual T-shirt we put on without remembering the print on the front. Faith in Jesus is inclusive of a world-view and a means of living and acting.

The devil has many tactics to take our eyes ‘off the prize’ of Jesus. This includes attempting to make our faith seem irrelevant in our present day.  This includes attempting to turn our faith into a means of power to be wielded in the political and cultural arenas.  This includes pressing on us so many of the concerns of the world that we get busy for the sake of busyness and lose sight of Jesus. Anything to deflect us from our Savior.

It isn’t that Jesus is taken out of the equation of our lives and faith, but that He is pushed to the fringes as other things pile on.

Who we are as people of Jesus, who we are as people who act on the behalf of Jesus, who we are as witnesses to Our Story for the world around us, that is where this blog begins, for the First Presbyterian Church of Merchantville, although we invite other readers.

From under the pinions of our Lord’s wings,

Rev. Peter Hofstra
